Sotaro Yamada who usually trains with Shinya Aoki's team called "Nippon Top Team (NTT)", did tight closed-guard at the bottom position from the begining. Aoki, at the Yamada's corner, was advising him and shouting
"Keep your legs closed and try only guillotine choke or get backmount by "shaolin-movement"!"
"Just keep trying them as much as possible. Don't do rubber-guard!"
"Don't worry about points. Just try submitting!"
Yes he is right. Under the ADCC rules, fighters tend to be passive and try getting points rather than submitting.
Aoki always encouraged the fighter like that when he is at the corner.
Amazon tried to break the guard but couldn't. Then for both fighters' passiveness Yamada got -2 points and Amazon -3. In a last minute Yamada tried rubber-guard, opposing to Aoki's advice, the guard was not tight, then Amazon finally passed the guard and got 2 points. So the score was (-1)-(-2).

--- In the first match Okami looked nervous. In fact when the opponent Orui defended all of Okami's tackles, he showed really nervous on his face. Altough in 8 minutes match Okami was once almost taken 2 points by Orui's takedown, both fighters couldn't any point. Then went into the extra round. Okami successfully took him down and passed the guard then got 5 point. In his three matches in the trial, this first match must have been the toughest one for him.
Talking about Okami's grappling style, he didn't show a lot of various submissions but did basics.---
